As of October, 2026, 18 countries have a ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027. The final tournament has 32 teams, so 14 places are still open.

That is almost half the field.

Each part of the world runs its own women’s football qualifying event. Some women’s national football teams earned a direct place, which means a ticket with no extra games. Others must win a playoff, which is a small last-chance tournament.

Below, you will find all 18 women’s national football teams, grouped by continent, and the tournament they play in.

So, let’s start in Africa.

Africa

Africa’s four direct places went to the four teams that reached the semifinals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, also called WAFCON. So, winning a quarterfinal was the key.

Here are the four women’s national football teams that are traveling to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.

1) Algeria

FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil will be Algeria’s first World Cup, so it is a debut.

Algeria beat Ivory Coast 2 to 1 in the quarterfinals, and that earned a direct place. Then they lost 3 to 1 to Malawi in the semifinals and finished third.

2) Cameroon

Brazil 2027 will be Cameroon’s third World Cup. They played in 2015 and 2019, so this return comes eight years after their last one.

Cameroon beat Nigeria 1 to 0 in the quarterfinals. Next, they beat Morocco on penalties in the semifinals after a 0- 0 draw. After that, they beat Malawi in the final and won WAFCON for the first time.

3) Malawi

Malawi lost the final to Cameroon, but the direct place was already theirs. It was their first WAFCON, and it will be their first World Cup.

Malawi beat Ghana 2 to 1 in the quarterfinals and Algeria 3 to 1 in the semifinals. Earlier, they also beat Nigeria, the defending champions, in the group stage.

4) Morocco

FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil will be Morocco’s second World Cup. Their first was in 2023, so they are playing back-to-back.

Morocco beat South Africa 2 to 1 in the quarterfinals. Then they drew 0- 0 with Cameroon in the semifinals and lost the penalty shootout 3- 1. Even so, reaching that round was enough for a direct place.

Asia

Asia’s six places were decided at the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, played in Australia from March 1 to 21. The four quarterfinal winners got direct places. Next, the four losers played one extra game each, called a play-in game. The two winners of those games got the last two direct places.

Here are the six women’s national football teams from Asia that qualified for FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil.

5) Australia

This will be Australia’s ninth World Cup. They first played in 1995 and have been at every edition since, which is 32 years.

Australia beat North Korea 2 to 1 in the quarterfinals, so they got a direct place. After that, they beat China 2 to 1 in the semifinals. Japan then beat them 1 to 0 in the final.

6) China PR

China PR beat Chinese Taipei 2 to 0 after extra time in the quarterfinals, which earned a direct place. Australia then beat them in the semifinals.

This will be China’s ninth Women’s World Cup. They first played in 1991 and have missed only one edition since, in 2011.

7) Japan

Japan is the women’s soccer team that got a direct ticket to Brazil 2027 after winning the Asian Women’s Cup.

Japan’s women’s national team beat the Philippines 7 to 0 in the quarterfinals and got a direct place. Then they beat South Korea 4 to 1 in the semifinals and Australia 1 to 0 in the final.

Japan is the only one of the Asian women’s national football teams to play at every World Cup.

This will be Japan’s tenth World Cup. They first played in 1991 and have been at every edition since, which is 36 years.

8) Korea DPR

Korea DPR, also called North Korea, lost 2 to 1 to Australia in the quarterfinals. So, they had to play in. On March 19, they beat Chinese Taipei 4 to 0 and got a direct place.

This will be North Korea’s fifth World Cup. They played in 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2011. Now they are back for the first time since 2011, a gap of 16 years.

9) Republic of Korea

The Republic of Korea, also called South Korea, beat Uzbekistan 6 to 0 in the quarterfinals and got a direct place. Japan then beat them 4 to 1 in the semifinals.

This will be their fifth World Cup. They first played in 2003, then in 2015, 2019, and 2023.

10) The Philippines

The Philippines lost 7 to 0 to Japan in the quarterfinals, so they went to a play-in game. On March 19, they beat Uzbekistan 2 to 0 and earned a direct place.

This will be the Philippines’ second World Cup. Their first was in 2023, so they are playing back-to-back.

Europe

Europe has 11 direct places, but only four are filled so far. They came from League A of the UEFA Women’s European Qualifiers, which is the top level of Europe’s qualifying system.

Sixteen teams played in four groups of four, home and away, between March 3 and June 9, 2026. Each group winner got a direct place. Everyone else moved on to the playoffs. These are the four Women’s National Football Teams that won their groups.

11) Denmark

Denmark won Group A1 with 14 points and did not lose a game. They won both games against Sweden, each 2 to 1, and both against Serbia, 3 to 1 and 4 to 1. They also drew twice with Italy, 0 to 0 and 1 to 1.

This will be Denmark’s sixth World Cup. Their first was in 1991, and they also played in 1995, 1999, 2007 and 2023.

12) France

France won Group A2 with 13 points. They beat Ireland 1 to 0 and 2 to 1, and they beat Poland 4 to 1 and 2 to 0. Their only loss was 2 to 1 away to the Netherlands, who finished second.

This will be the French women’s national team’s sixth World Cup. They first played in 2003, then in 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023, so this is their fifth in a row.

13) Germany

Germany won Group A4 with 16 points, the most of any group winner. They won five games, drew one, and gave up only one goal. They beat Norway 2-0 and 4-0, and Slovenia 5- 0 and 2- 0. Against Austria, they won 5- 1 and drew 0- 0.

This will be Germany’s tenth World Cup. They first played in 1991 and have been at every edition since, which is 36 years. They are also one of the most successful women’s national football teams ever, with Women’s World Cup titles in 2003 and 2007.

14) Spain

Spain won Group A3 with 15 points, the same as England. Spain finished first on the tiebreaker, thanks to a 4- 0 home win over England. They lost the return game 1- 0.

Spain also beat Iceland 3-0 and 6- 1, and Ukraine 5- 0 and 3- 1.

This will be Spain’s fourth World Cup. They played in 2015, 2019, and 2023, and they won the 2023 title, so they are the reigning world champions.

South America

South America has three places, and Brazil takes one as the host. The other two went to the top two teams in the CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League, which was played from October 2025 to June 2026.

Nine teams will play eight games each, four at home and four away. The third- and fourth-place teams, Venezuela and Ecuador, are going to the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.

Here are the three women’s national football teams from South America already inside the Brazil FIFA Women’s World Cup.

15) Argentina

Argentina finished second with 18 points, from five wins and three draws. They did not lose a game. They drew 0- 0 with Colombia, and they closed the tournament with a 1- 0 win away to Ecuador on June 9.

That earned a direct place. This will be their fifth World Cup. They played in 2003, 2007, 2019, and 2023, so this is their third in a row.

16) Brazil

Brazil is the only one of these Women’s National Football Teams that played no women’s World Cup qualifying games, because the host gets a place automatically. That was confirmed in May 2024, and it uses one of South America’s places.

This will be Brazil’s women’s national team’s tenth World Cup. They first played in 1991 and have been at every edition since, which is 36 years.

It will also be the first Women’s World Cup in South America.

17) Colombia

Colombia won the Nations League with 20 points, from six wins and two draws, and they did not lose a game. They beat Venezuela 2 to 1, Uruguay 1 to 0, and Paraguay 4 to 3 in the last game.

That earned a direct place. This will be their fourth World Cup. They played in 2011, 2015, and 2023.

Colombia is also one of the women’s national football teams that reached the quarterfinals in 2023.

Oceania

Oceania has one direct place, and it was decided at the Oceania Qualifiers. Eleven teams entered, and the games ran from November 2025 to April 2026. The runner-up goes to the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.

So, only one of the women’s national football teams from the Oceania region has a ticket to the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

18) New Zealand

New Zealand beat Fiji 5 to 0 in the semifinals on April 11. Then they beat Papua New Guinea 1 to 0 in the final on April 15 in Auckland, with a goal from Katie Kitching in the 55th minute.

They scored 25 goals and gave up none in the whole campaign.

Papua New Guinea now goes to the FIFA Play-Off Tournament. This will be New Zealand’s seventh World Cup.

They first played in 1991, then in 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023, so this is their sixth in a row.

What Happens Next

So, 14 places are still open. Here is how they will be filled, one step at a time, starting with Europe and ending with the last playoff games in 2027.

Europe

First, Europe has seven direct places left and one spot in the FIFA Play-Off Tournament. The 32 teams that did not win a League A group play two rounds, home and away.

Those 32 teams are Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, England, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and Wales.

Round one runs from October 7 to 13, 2026. Round two runs from November 26 to December 5.

North America, Central America and the Caribbean

Next, Concacaf has four direct places.

Concacaf covers North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Eight teams will play the 2026 Concacaf W Championship in Texas, from November 27 to December 5.

These eight teams are the United States, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Haiti, Panama, and El Salvador.

The four quarterfinal winners qualify directly, and they play the semifinals on December 1.

The four losers play extra games on December 2 for two spots in the FIFA Play-Off Tournament. Then the third-place game and the final are played on December 5.

FIFA Play-Off Tournament

Finally, the FIFA Play-Off Tournament decides the last three places. Six teams play the first phase from November 24 to December 5. They are Chinese Taipei, Ecuador, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, and Uzbekistan. The top two move on.

In the final phase, which fits into the window from February 23 to March 6, 2027, they join two teams from CONCACAF, one from South America, and one from Europe. Those six teams are drawn into three knockout games, and each winner qualifies.

Here is a quick math check. We have 18 teams now. Add 7 from Europe, 4 from CONCACAF, and 3 from the FIFA Play-Off Tournament, and you get 32.

That is how the remaining women’s national football teams will find their places in the Brazil Women’s World Cup 2027.

Final Whistle

In short, at the moment only 18 women’s national football teams have booked their tickets. 14 places remain. Africa filled four places through WAFCON, Asia filled six through the Asian Cup, and Europe filled four through its group winners. South America sent three, counting the host, and Oceania sent one.

Most teams got in by winning a quarterfinal or a group, while two had to win one extra game. The last 14 places will be settled from October 2026 to early March 2027 through the European playoffs, the Concacaf tournament, and the FIFA Play-Off Tournament.

Like you, I can’t wait!
